Travel to Ranthambore

If you are a wildlife lover, travel to Ranthambore is a must in your Rajputana Splendour tour itinerary. Ranthambore is at a distance of 11 kilometers from Sawai Madhopur railway station and can easily be adjudged as the pride of Rajasthan.

The Thar Desert and the Aravalli mountains are situated nearby. For travel to Ranthambore, the road and rail network is the most feasible.

One of India's biggest wildlife reserves, the Ranthambore National Park will leave adventure lovers amazed. Formerly a hunting ground of Rajasthani maharajas, the Ranthambore National Park was taken under government control to protect and showcase Indian wildlife.

Extending over 392 kilometers of forests, the Ranthambore tour includes a journey into the wilderness. The park is closed from 1st July to 30th September every year due to heavy monsoons in the region.

Travel to Ranthambore means you get to see the majestic Royal Bengal Tiger. In fact, the Ranthambore National Park is part of the Project Tiger initiated by the government to protect these tigers.

The Kaila Devi Sanctuary and the Mansingh Sanctuary also come under the ambit of the national park in Ranthambore.

Due to its proximity to the desert, the forests in Ranthambore are arid with desert vegetation and dry land. Travel to Ranthambore means you get to explore the ruins and monuments inside the park.

The Jogi Mahal in the Ranthambore National Park is being used as a forest guesthouse. The courtyard of this old palace houses one of India's largest banyan trees. You can also visit the Ranthambore Fort during your Ranthambore tour.

Ranthambore has three lakes - Padam Talaab, Raj Bagh Talaab and Milak Talaab. The banks of these lakes are the best places to spot tigers that come here to drink water.

Other than tigers, you can also see foxes, jackals, leopards, deer, and other wild animals during travel to Ranthambore. There's lot of exciting stuff for bird watchers as well. Quite a few desert birds have made Ranthambore their habitat.

The forest department helps in arranging jeep safaris for tourists. Professional guides are also easily available in park. These men take you through an undaunted Ranthambore tour - something you'll remember for life.
