Travel to Amber Fort

One of the major tourist attractions of Jaipur, Amber Fort is a magnificent structure situated 11 kilometers from the state capital. Built in red sandstone and white marble, the fort looks spectacular with the scenic Maota Lake in the foreground.

Travel to Amber Fort is easily done by road, from Jaipur. The place is also easily accessible from other parts of Rajasthan. The best way to travel to Amber Fort is an elephant ride from the town. It will give you a royal feeling along with unending thrill.

For more than seven centuries, the Amber Fort was the center of the Kachachawahas. Jaipur's rulers Man Singh, Jai Singh I and II worked on the fort from 1592 onwards and have made Amber what it is today.

Unlike its rugged external look, the internal beauty of the Amber Fort is captivating. Adorned with paintings, mosaics and mirror work, the fort is a fine fusion of Hindu and Muslim architecture.

Most of the palaces and structures inside the fort are ruined. Nevertheless, during your Amber Fort tour you will find some well-preserved edifices.

There are quite a few must-see structures inside the fort. Travel to Amber Fort will take you to a Shila Mata temple complex that has images of the goddess; Ganesh Pol, a gateway having the images of Lord Ganesha; Char Bagh garden, Sheesh Mahal, a palace designed with intricately carved mirrors, and the public address hall Diwan-e-Aam.

A visit to the Amber Fort in Jaipur will give you an interesting insight into the lives of erstwhile Indian rulers and their creative preferences.
